1. Introduction
CareFinder ("we," "us," "our") connects clients with vetted caregivers. This Privacy Policy describes the personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the rights you have under laws such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA).
2. Information We Collect
- Account data: name, email, phone number, profile photo, role (client or caregiver).
- Caregiver verification: government-issued ID, certifications, background-check results, and supporting documents.
- Booking & payment data: service details, scheduled times, addresses, and payment metadata processed by Stripe.
- Communications: messages exchanged between clients and caregivers within the platform.
- Usage & device data: IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and approximate location.
3. How We Use Your Information
We process personal data to operate the marketplace, verify caregivers, facilitate bookings and payments, prevent fraud, comply with legal obligations, and improve the service.
4. Background Checks
Caregivers consent to background screening as a condition of listing. Results are accessed by authorized CareFinder staff only and stored using encrypted, access-controlled infrastructure. We retain verification records only as long as required for legal and safety purposes.
5. Sharing
We share data with: (a) the counterparty to a booking, limited to information necessary to deliver care; (b) processors such as Stripe (payments), our email and hosting providers, and background-check vendors, all bound by data-processing agreements; (c) authorities when required by law.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to certain uses. California residents may opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information; we do not sell personal information. To exercise any right, email privacy@carefinderapp.org.
7. Security
We use TLS in transit, encrypted storage, row-level database access controls, and least-privilege admin access. No system is perfectly secure; report concerns to security@carefinderapp.org.
8. Retention
We keep personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
9. International Transfers
Data may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.
10. Children
CareFinder is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
